Dara Horn Biography

Dara Horn was born in New Jersey in 1977 and graduated from Harvard University with a Ph.D. in comparative literature in 2006, specializing in Hebrew and Yiddish. Dara Horn was named one of Granta magazine's Best Young American Novelists in 2007. In the Image, her debut novel, published by W.W. Norton when she was 25, won the National Jewish Book Award in 2003, the Edward Lewis Wallant Award in 2002, and the Reform Judaism Fiction Prize in 2003. Her second novel, The World to Come, was released in January 2006 by W.W. Norton and won the 2006 National Jewish Book Award for Fiction, the 2007 Harold U. Ribalow Prize, and was named an Editors' Choice in The New York Times Book Review. The San Francisco Chronicle named it one of the Best Books of 2006, and it has been translated into eleven languages. She has lectured at colleges and cultural organizations in the United States and Canada, teaching courses in Jewish literature and Israeli history at Harvard and Sarah Lawrence College. The New York Times Book Review named her most recent novel, All Other Nights, published by W.W. Norton in April 2009, an Editors' Choice. She resides in New Jersey with her husband and children.
