He went to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst to study communications and theatre after high school. He later relocated to San Francisco in order to pursue a comedic career. In 1986, he and fellow comedian Alex Reid created the San Francisco Comedy Condo in San Francisco. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
