Previously Jay-Z's business partner at Roc-A-Fella Records as well as his manager, Dash's working relationship with Jay-Z encountered problems. Later, Jay-Z was made president of Def Jam after Def Jam Recordings nought Roc-A-Fella Records in 2004. And then Jay-Z bought Dash out of his share in Rocawear in 2005. As a teenager, Dash sold newspapers and swept the floors of a local barbershop so as to purchase shirts and sneakers. At 15, Dash’s mother died of an asthma attack and she’s the reason for his solid work ethic.
