Chris Pratt Biography
Christopher Michael Pratt is an American film and television actor. He came to prominence from his television roles, including Bright Abbott in Everwood, Ché in The O.C., and Andy Dwyer and Parks and Recreation, and notable film roles in Moneyball, The Five-Year Engagement, Zero Dark Thirty, Delivery Man, and Her. In 2014, he broke out as a leading man after headlining two of the year's biggest films: he voiced Emmet Brickowoski, in The Lego Movie, and starred as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. In 2015, he headlined the sci-fi thriller Jurassic World, the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise and his most financially successful film. In 2016, he co-starred in the remake The Magnificent Seven, with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, and appeared with Jennifer Lawrence in the sci-fi drama Passengers. In the near future, he returns as Star-Lord for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom not far behind.
He was born in Virginia, Minnesota, to Kathleen Louise (Indahl), who worked at a supermarket, and Daniel Clifton Pratt, who remodeled houses. His mother is of Norwegian descent and his father had English, German, Swiss, and French-Canadian ancestry. Chris grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington state. He is married to fellow Washington State native, Anna Faris, whom he met on the film set of Take Me Home Tonight, and with whom he has one child, Jack Pratt. Chris's hobbies include fishing, hunting and working on cars. He has two older siblings, Cully and Angie.
Chris Pratt is known for his television roles, playing Andy Dwyer in "Parks and Recreation" and Harold Brighton "Bright" Abbott in "Everwood," as well as for supporting performances in acclaimed films such as "Moneyball," "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Her." He also provided the voice of Emmet Brickowski in the 2014 computer animated film "The Lego Movie" and stars as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Studios superhero film "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Pratt was waiting tables at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Maui, Hawaii, when he was discovered by actor-director Rae Dawn Chong who cast him in the horror film "Cursed Part 3." Pratt's first regular television role was on the series "Everwood," where he co-starred as Harold Brighton "Bright" Abbott. After Everwood, Pratt quickly joined the cast of "The O.C." for its fourth and final season, playing Ché, an activist.
Pratt has portrayed the dimwitted but lovable Andy Dwyer in NBC's "Parks and Recreation" since 2009. Originally meant to be a temporary character (he is credited as a guest star throughout season one), Pratt proved to be so likable that producers asked him back as a series regular. As he was working on the show Pratt portrayed Scott Hatteberg in the movie "Moneyball," with costars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
In February 2013, Pratt was cast in the lead role of Peter Quill in Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy." "Guardians of the Galaxy" is just the beginning of Pratt's new career as action-star. He also plays the lead in the sequel to the "Jurassic Park" film, called "Jurassic World."
