Chris Lemons is a Scottish saturation diver and keynote speaker who survived a near-fatal accident in September 2012 while working on an oil rig in the North Sea. Born in Edinburgh and raised in Cambridge, he has over 18 years of experience in deep-sea diving, living in decompression chambers for up to 28 days, and working at depths up to 900 feet. During the incident, a failure in the vessel Bibby Topaz's dynamic positioning system severed its umbilical, leaving it 300 feet underwater without breathing gas, heat, or light for over 30 minutes. With only five minutes of emergency air, his survival baffled experts, attributed to cold water, high oxygen levels, and his team's rescue efforts. His story is featured in the Netflix/BBC documentary “Last Breath” (2019) and a 2025 feature film starring Woody Harrelson. Lemons, now a diving supervisor, lives in the South of France with his partner and two daughters.
