Chris Jansing Biography

Jansing began working for NBC News in June 1998. She was the anchor of msnbc's coverage of the September 11 terrorist attacks as they occurred. She has covered numerous presidential elections extensively and anchored a series of prime time broadcasts dubbed Battleground America. She has covered significant breaking news events such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the shooting tragedies in Tucson and Aurora, Colorado, the Japanese nuclear issue, and the Olympic Games in Torino, Vancouver, and London. Jansing was also in London for the Royal Wedding and Rome for Pope John Paul II's beatification. She was with Pope John Paul II during his historic visit to Israel, and she anchors msnbcs coverage from Rome during his funeral and Pope Benedict's election. Her work on Nightly News with Brian Williams and the TODAY Show has included coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign, the Iceland volcano disaster, and Michael Jackson's death. She has submitted reports from Bolivia to Vietnam to Afghanistan, as well as around the United States. Jansings' other responsibilities include working as a correspondent for Dateline NBC, Rock Center, and as a replacement anchor for Weekend Today and the weekend version of NBC Nightly News. Jansing co-anchored the nightly news for WNYT-TV Albany before joining the NBC News team, where she received several accolades for excellence in journalism, including two Emmys. Jansing, an Ohio native, graduated from Otterbein College with distinction and possesses two honorary doctorates.
