Chigozie Obioma is the author of The Fishermen, a Man Booker Prize finalist in 2015, as well as the winner of four other accolades, including an NAACP Image Award, the FT/Oppenheimer Prize for Fiction, and other nominations. The novel is also being converted into a theatrical play, with translations in 26 languages. An Orchestra of Minorities, his most recent novel, is on the longlist for the Booker Prize. It is the most prestigious literary prize in the English-speaking world, honoring excellent fiction with recognition, reward, and audience for more than 50 years. It is given out every year to the finest novel written in English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Obioma was selected to Foreign Policy's 2015 list of the 100 Most Influential People. He is an English and Creative Writing professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as well as a project manager in Nigeria. An Orchestra of Minorities, his second novel, was published in January 2019 to critical praise and has been translated into 12 languages. Obioma was born in the country of Nigeria. He has resided in Cyprus, Turkey, and now the United States, where he teaches Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
