Charlotte Clymer Biography

Charlotte Clymer is an American activist, writer, and communications consultant known for her advocacy in LGBTQ rights, feminism, and veterans' affairs. A transgender woman, she served in the U.S. Army from 2005 to 2012 with the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Arlington National Cemetery, reaching the rank of corporal. After leaving the military, she earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and worked at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Clymer served as press secretary for rapid response at the Human Rights Campaign (2017–2021) and director of communications and strategy at Catholics for Choice (2021). She writes "Charlotte’s Web Thoughts", a Substack newsletter on politics, religion, and culture, which won the 2024 NLGJA Award for Excellence in Blogging and was a finalist for the 2023 and 2024 GLAAD Media Awards. Named to Fortune’s 2020 40 Under 40 in Government and Politics, she serves on boards for organizations like LPAC and Running Start, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
