Caron Butler was a professional basketball player in the past. He played in the National Basketball Association for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, and Sacramento Kings throughout a 14-year career (NBA). While playing for the Connecticut Huskies, Butler was a two-time NBA All-Star and the 2002 Big East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Butler began his basketball career in Wisconsin with the Amateur Athletic Union. He enrolled in Maine Central Institute after a brief career at Racine Park High School, where he was successful enough to receive a scholarship to attend the University of Connecticut and play for coach Jim Calhoun's Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team for two years. Butler was awarded co-Big East Player of the Year and a second-team All-American while playing for the Huskies. Butler was a lottery pick in the 2002 NBA draught after playing collegiate basketball, being taken with the 10th overall choice. Butler joined ESPN as a full-time college basketball and NBA commentator in 2017 and FS1 as an NBA analyst in 2018.
