About Brooke Moriber
Brooke Moriber Biography
Critically acclaimed for her “clarion voice” by the Associated Press, “a ravishing star with a paint peeling belt,” Brooke is a singer songwriter and actor with a distinctive voice and a unique career. While juggling gigs with her band. Brooke has performed in 7 Broadway shows and earned a reputation for her powerhouse vocals ranging from rock to opera. Her “ability to transform herself” as an actor has landed her roles opposite stars such as Lili Taylor and Kristen Johnston.
A native New Yorker, born in the heart of Greenwich Village, Brooke has made her journey from growing up down the block from Washington Square Park to singing for thousands in concert in Central Park.
As a child, Brooke’s first professional gig was on the Broadway stage performing as Young Cosette in Les Miserables. It was her first audition. She then performed in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love, the soap opera "As The World Turns", and several TV shows and commercials.
At the age of fifteen, Brooke began writing music. Producers soon discovered that she had a knack for writing catchy hooks while turning life’s ups and downs into words and music that deeply connect with her listeners. Her original pop/rock music has been featured on network television and several soundtracks for film and theater.
At the same time as she was starting a recording career, Brooke was given the opportunity to work with the legendary Broadway director Harold Prince on a new musical called Parade where she originated the role of Iola Stover. From then on, she continued a pattern of originating roles on Broadway including: Nadine in The Wild Party and Lily in James Joyce’s The Dead.
She has also been critically acclaimed off Broadway for her acting in straight plays---most notably, her portrayal of the murderous Mindy in Wallace Shawn’s Aunt Dan and Lemon.
Brooke premiered Randy Newman's "Stupid Little Songs" in Seattle, portraying Randy's first wife in The Education Of Randy Newman. Later she performed on Broadway in the revivals of Follies and The Threepenny Opera working along side Cyndi Lauper and Alan Cumming.
