Brett Young is a prominent country pop artist known for his soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Hailing from Orange County, California, he was a baseball athlete in high school and pursued a baseball scholarship at Ole Miss, finishing his career at Fresno State. While a talented pitcher, his baseball career ended after an elbow injury, which led him to focus on music.
His singing career began at church, where he led Christian worship at his high school meetings. He then performed at California venues as an opening act for artists such as Colbie Caillat and Katy Perry. Destined for the mecca of country music, he signed with Big Machine Label Group shortly after arriving in Nashville.
