Brandon Busteed Biography

Brandon Busteed is in charge of Gallup's educational efforts. As an educational entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and university trustee, his career encompasses a wide spectrum of significant activities in education. Busteed's work entails combining Gallup's research and science on selection, strengths, engagement, and wellness with educational results to increase student performance, teacher effectiveness, and educational outcomes. His goal is to build a national movement to evaluate the most important educational outcomes, connect education to employment and job development, and advocate a paradigm shift in education from information mastery to emotional involvement. As a social entrepreneur, Busteed has created two businesses and one nonprofit organization. Outside The Classroom, a firm that pioneered adaptive online education in alcohol misuse prevention was founded by him and he was the previous CEO. AlcoholEdu, the organization's main alcohol-abuse prevention program, was found to be successful in decreasing binge drinking, drunk driving, and sexual assaults in a three-year, 30-school nationwide study funded by the National Institutes of Health. This program, which is the only one of its kind shown to influence behavior, has been taken by over 4 million pupils. EverFi purchased the firm in 2011. Busteed is a well-known lecturer and author in the fields of education policy and public health. He has contributed to a variety of media, including The Chronicle of Higher Education, Trusteeship Magazine, The Huffington Post, and others. The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and USA Today have all featured Busteed's work, as well as NPR and the NBC News TODAY show. Busteed graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in public policy. He is an emeritus trustee of Duke University and a member of the Sanford School of Public Policy's Board of Visitors. He is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization and serves on the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity's National Board of Directors. Busteed, a former Duke two-sport NCAA Division 1 athlete, continues to develop his competitive drive as a CrossFitter. He and his wife, Deanna, live in McLean, Virginia, with their two children, Anabelle and Harrison.
