Bob Errey Biography

Bob Errey was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, and New York Rangers, among others. In 1991 and 1992, he was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who won two Stanley Cups. In 1997, he was a part of Team Canada, which won gold at the World Championships, and he played for Detroit in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1995. With the Penguins, he started off wearing #10 before settling on #12. After spending the whole 1998–99 season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, he retired in 1999. For the 1993-94 and 1994-95 NHL seasons, Errey led the San Jose Sharks as captain. He had previously served as the Penguins' alternate captain for numerous seasons. From 1980 to 1983, Errey was a member of the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. He formed the top line alongside Steve Yzerman during that time and led the club in goals with 53 in 1983. In the mid-1990s, Errey would reconnect with Yzerman in Detroit for one full season and two half seasons. Errey and Paul Steigerwald are the TV color analysts for the Pittsburgh Penguins games on Root Sports. During the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he also featured as a commentator on the NHL Network's weekly highlight show, NHL on the Fly. He also appears on TSN from time to time as an in-studio commentator during the IIHF World Hockey Championships broadcast.
