Benjamin Hughes Biography

Mr. Benjamin Hughes is a partner in the firm's International Dispute Resolution Practice Group and a senior foreign attorney. Mr. Hughes has significant international arbitration expertise in Asia, Europe, and the United States. In arbitrations governed by the ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, and KCAB, he has served as a single arbitrator, chair, and co-arbitrator. He also serves as a mediator on occasion. Mr. Hughes is approved in international arbitration by PLC and is regarded as a top person in international arbitration in the Asia-Pacific area by Chambers & Partners (2011 & 2012). Mr. Hughes is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a member of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and other prestigious arbitral institutions. He is the chair of the KCAB's International Advisory Committee, as well as the founding co-chair of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators' Korea Chapter and a special advisor to the President of the Korea Bar Association. Mr. Hughes teaches law as an adjunct professor at Korea University School of Law and has published several publications on Korean conflict resolution.
