Auggie Smith went from Billings, Montana to Portland, Oregon at the age of 19 to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. After a few years of toil and suffering, he first rose to prominence when he won the 1994 Sam Adams Comedy Contest, which gave him national exposure on the television show Evening At the Improv. In 1997, Auggie came in second place in the Seattle Comedy Competition, losing to famed comedian Mitch Hedberg. This won him a spot in the 1998 Montreal Comedy Festival, where he put on a remarkable 12 shows, including New Faces, Danger Zone, and The Nasty Show, among others. Auggie introduced himself to a new army of admirers in January of 2004, with a now-famous performance on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, while maintaining a steady touring schedule of clubs around the country.
