Anthony Gooch Biography

Anthony Gooch Director Public Affairs & Communications Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Since 2008 he pioneered OECD Better Life Index (www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org) and efforts to overhaul OECD’s brand and reputation played a key role in co-ordinating OECD’s major international public campaigns addressing sensitive issues such as tax havens and international bribery in the context of the emergence of the G20. Prior he worked for the European Commission as a negotiator of international trade agreements with Latin America and was appointed EU’s Trade Spokesman and special adviser to Pascal Lamy (1999) attending WTO ministerial meetings in Seattle and Doha launching WTO round negotiations leading to China’s entry into WTO high profile trade disputes and initiatives to open EU. He went on to head EU’s public diplomacy operations in US and UK promoting major global economic environmental and energy policy initiatives. He is a former fellow of University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy has a postgraduate degree in Political Science & International Relations Sciences Po Paris; an MA in Modern History Cambridge University.
