Angela I. Gustus, MPA Biography

With over 20 years in the human services field, Ms. Gustus has a passion for helping people in the community. Currently as the Executive Director of the Human Services Programs of Carroll County, Inc. (HSP), she has an opportunity to build upon the foundation of a dynamic Community Action Agency that provides Shelter & Housing, Workforce Development, Family Services, and Emergency & Prevention programs to the community. She also is the co-owner of a consulting business, CMAG and Associates, LLC. In that role, she provides training, consulting, and coaching to a host of throughout Maryland.

In addition to her passion for helping others in need, Ms. Gustus, through her tenure, recognized the importance of investing in developing professionals and succession planning for government and nonprofit organizations. She has participated in creating curriculum for trainings / workshops presented at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland State Government, Morgan State University and a host of non-profits throughout the State. Ms. Gustus is also a professor at University of Baltimore, where she teaches Government and Public Policy Research Methods. Ms. Gustus has also authored two books on the topic of Leadership Development (the Leadership Development for Human Services Professionals Workbook and Chip: Use Everything You Have To Do Everything You Do) and will be publishing her third book summer 2017, Goal Cartography. Ms. Gustus was born and raised in Baltimore MD where she received her BA in Sociology from Morgan State University. As a National Urban Fellow, she also received her Masters of Public Administration from the City University of New York – Baruch College. Ms. Gustus continues to live in Maryland with her family.
