After hearing so many stories on the news about children dying from being accidentally left in a hot car, Alissa knew something had to be done. For her 8th grade science fair she created Hot Seat. Hot Seat is an alarm system that prevents children from being accidentally left in a hot car. Alissa was honored by Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry with a "Good Samaritan" award for her invention.
She began receiving national and international media attention for her product. Alissa has appeared on national and international TV and radio shows including the Today Show, Ryan Seacrest Radio Show, NBC News, ABC News, Fox and Friends, Huffington Post, Washington Post and USA Today. Alissa was also named one of Glamour Magazines Women of the Year: Hometown Heroes, Glamour Magazine Women of the Year: Teach Heroes and Teen Business Top 20. She has spoken a TEDX Events, Microsoft DigiGirls camp, school events, fundraisers etc. Alissa has become an inspiration to many young and old, she has overcome obstacles to turn her science fair project into an actual product.
