Alexa provides a unique viewpoint as a Registered Nurse accurately expressing her Stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis just after her 40th birthday, with a 20-year background in communications and 10 years expertise in healthcare. Alexa skillfully combines the pathophysiology of medicine into a dynamic, light-hearted, interactive educational lecture that can be personalized to your audience, from screening mammograms to diagnostic tests to consultations to surgery to follow-up. Alexa has experience interacting with a wide range of patients and audiences, having worked in the emergency department of a level 1 trauma center, an elementary school health clinic, an income-based community free clinic, and corporate occupational health. She formerly taught English, ESL, and writing at the community college level, as well as community fitness and CPR programs. She is now working on a how-to book on her experience as a cancer patient who is also an RN, describing the process of what occurs when and what questions to ask.
