Aaron Kaufman Biography

Aaron Kaufman is a self-taught mechanic, fabricator, and all-around hot rodder from Crowley, Texas. He grew up pulling things apart and putting them back together, but not in the same order as they were taken apart. His knack for mechanical and love of automobiles led him to the world of hot rods. He didn't want to be good at what he did, though. He aspired to be the finest in the field. And it is this desire that has propelled him to success. When Richard was working at a local car shop, he met Aaron. Richard came in and said that he needed someone to air ride his 1953 Ford Mainline and that he wanted their best person to do it. Aaron was given it by them. Richard recalled Aaron and the pleasure he placed in his work when he founded Gas Monkey Garage years later. Richard tracked out Aaron and invited him to join him on his next project. Aaron's technique for handling a car restoration job is surprisingly simple: everything has to be in sync, from the front end to the back end to the inside. Every component must make sense. And his vision changes as a project progresses. While a '32 roadster is one of his favorite cars of all time, his all-time favorite is an AC Cobra.
