Kicking off the Semester with a Celebration of Faith, Leadership, and Community
The College of the Ozarks is a private Christian college in Point Lookout, Missouri, founded in 1906. It is unique for being a tuition-free college, famously known by the moniker "Hard Work U", where students work on campus to cover their education and living expenses. Each October, they welcome a new crop of students during their Fall Convocation, and they have invited Shannon Bream, conservative anchor of "Fox News Sunday," to be a keynote speaker at the event.
The highly sought-after journalist and attorney has been the face of the network's premier Sunday political talk show and serves as Chief Legal Correspondent. Bream graduated from Liberty University with a degree in business and earned a Juris Doctor from Florida State University. After briefly practicing law, she entered journalism, starting at local stations in Florida and Virginia. Joining Fox News in 2007, she covered the Supreme Court before anchoring "Fox News @ Night" (2017–2022) and later "Fox News Sunday" (2022–present), succeeding Chris Wallace. Known for her legal expertise and balanced reporting, Bream covers major political and legal stories. She's also the author of faith-based books, including "The Women of the Bible Speak" (2021).

"The Fall Convocation is an opportunity to unite the College family − students, faculty, alumni, and friends − for a time of reflection and inspiration," said Brad Johnson, president of College of the Ozarks. "We are grateful to welcome Shannon Bream and to recognize individuals whose lives and leadership embody the values we hold dear: faith, family, and country."
The event will take place at the Howell W. Keeter Athletic Complex on Thursday, October 9th, and follow an unconventional format. Instead of a dedicated address, Bream will have a conversation with Laura Lacy Johnson, the wife of the college president, Brad Johnson, sharing highlights from her professional journey and navigating the world as a conservative Christian woman.
The college will also honor leaders in Christian media and ministry:
- Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media
- Troy A. Miller, president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters
- Jennifer Rothschild, nationally known Bible teacher, author, and speaker
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, and tickets are required for admission. Tickets can be secured here.
