Ted Weschler

Following graduation, Ted Weschler took a position with chemical manufacturer W.R. Grace & Co. (GRA). His hedge fund owned 15% of the business's shares in 2007, six years after the company declared bankruptcy. His initiative led to a settlement a year later that enabled Grace's stock to increase 40 times since the default.

His track record of successful investments led to him being hired by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Weschler was able to carve out a role at Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire that goes above and beyond the stock-picking job he was hired for thanks to his ability to see value in troubled businesses and strike agreements.
