About Stanley Bing

Stanley Bing Biography

Bing initially appeared in ESQUIRE Magazine in 1983, writing slanderous things about his colleagues and acquaintances, and offering strategic counsel to others even more perplexed than he was. Rather than risk being kicked out of his sour corporate environment, he invented a new name under which he could watch and critique the executive class while aspire to their lifestyle. This technique has mostly succeeded, and Mr. Bing now snipes at the hand that feeds him while working as an ultra-high-level executive vice president at a massive international organization whose identity is one of the worst-kept secrets in business. Bing went to Fortune magazine in 1995, where he currently publishes under the subtly titled BING!? During this period, he experienced an interesting transformation, eventually becoming a member of the executive class against which he had previously focused his sarcastic comments. His work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, New York Magazine, The New York Daily News Sunday Magazine, and a variety of women's and computer magazines over the years. He has also been a regular NPR commentator. Bing's sarcastic view on the business environment is as astute as it is entertaining from the lecture stage. Bing gives a distinct perspective on thought leadership with issues gained from a lengthy and incredibly successful career at CBS. He draws on his findings from his climb in corporate culture to train employees to think outside the box while also teaching bosses how to handle this style of thinking. His unique perspective will assist both the executive class and the individuals trying to attain that level, demonstrating that inventiveness is valued in corporate America. With Bing's unique perspective, the audience will not only learn how to go ahead in business, but they will also laugh while doing so. Sun Tzu Was a Sissy: Conquer Your Enemies, Promote Your Friends, and Wage the Real Art of War, Bing's most recent book, was released in the fall of 2004. Both You Look Nice Today, a novel, and The Big Bing, a collection of essays, were released in 2003. Bing's previous book, Throwing the Elephant: Zen and the Art of Managing Up, was a national best-seller. His previous work was a best-seller. What Would Machiavelli Have Done? HarperBusiness released The Ends Justify the Meaness. Bing has been on the CBS Early Show, Imus in the Morning, CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood, Fox News Channel Your World with Neil Cavuto, and many more national shows, including Time Magazine. Bing is also the author of the novels Bizwords: Power Talk for Fun and Profit; Crazy Bosses: Spotting Them, Serving Them, Surviving Them (reissued by HarperCollins in the spring of 2004); and Lloyd: What Happened, a story with accompanying computer graphics. Lloyd follows a middle manager for a year as he rises up the ranks of his firm, becoming a nasty guy in the process. Fortune termed Lloyd a "rollicking narrative of a megadeal gone awry," and reaffirmed its support by releasing an extract from the book, the magazine's first fiction in over fifty years. Playtone, Tom Hanks' production firm, is presently developing it for television.
