About Sarah Robb O'Hagan

Sarah Robb O'Hagan Biography

The media has referred to executive, activist, and entrepreneur Sarah Robb O'Hagan as anything from "Superwoman undercover" to the "Queen of the Jocks" to the pinnacle of what a strong businesswoman, mother, and fitness enthusiast can be. Sarah is a re-inventor of brands named one of Forbes' "Most Influential Women in Sports" and one of Fast Company's "Most Creative People in Business." Nevertheless, if you ask Sarah, she'll tell you that her goal is to help people and teams reach their full potential. Sarah was born in New Zealand, the first nation to grant women the right to vote and where the first man to summit Mount Everest was. The pioneering spirit of her homeland inspired Sarah to start a movement she now leads called "Extreme Living," which assists people, teams, and enterprises realize their potential by identifying their distinctively exploitable features. HarperCollins will release her book EXTREMELY early in 2019. As president of Equinox, the world's leading fitness lifestyle company, Sarah oversaw the company's transformation from a brick-and-mortar health club to an "always on" fitness lifestyle partner heavily supported by technology and proprietary content. This was accomplished by developing and launching the editorial content platform "Furthermore from Equinox." Sarah has held leadership positions at some of the most recognizable brands in the world, including Virgin, Nike, Gatorade, and Equinox. Before joining Equinox, Sarah was the Global President of Gatorade. She is credited with turning the brand around from a failing sports drink to providing nutrition solutions to athletes of all levels. When Sarah took over the renowned Sports Drink in 2008, Fast Company magazine noted that she inherited a "flaming mess." However, through a courageous transformation that required defying a deeply ingrained PepsiCo culture that had diluted the brand's accurate positioning, Sarah and her team restored the Gatorade brand to its origins. Then they reimagined its future for a new audience of young, digitally savvy athletic teens. Sarah's career in sports began with Nike, where she was an integral part of the team that introduced the groundbreaking invention Nike Plus in partnership with Apple. This was the world's first digital running tracker, giving fitness fans a platform for worldwide social engagement. In many respects, it also gave birth to the rapidly expanding technological trend today known as the "Quantified Self." At the national carrier of her nation, Air New Zealand, Sarah began her career in the airline business as a marketing executive. She joined Virgin Atlantic Airways in the early 1990s, where she rose to fame for her ground-breaking marketing campaign in support of the Austin Powers film, during which she renamed the airline "Virgin Shaglantic" for several weeks, started the time's largest internet "event," and used a 747 as a flying showcase for the entire initiative. Sarah fervently supports leading an active lifestyle and thinks that learning from sports and fitness can boost performance at work. She is a trustee for the Women's Sports Foundation and has served on Hillary Clinton's US State Department Council to Empower Women and Girls through Sports. Also, she participates actively in the World Class New Zealand Network because she is dedicated to advancing the nation's growth, economic competitiveness, and development. Sarah has received accolades during her career for various accomplishments. Among the most recent awards are being named one of Forbes magazine's "Most Powerful Women in Sports" (2015 and 2009), being named one of Fast Company's "Most Creative People in Business" (2012), and being named to the top 40 Under 40 lists by the Sports Business Journal (2009, 2011, and 2012), Sports Goods Business (2010), and Crain's Chicago Business (2010). Sarah received the Sir Peter Blake Trust Award in 2014 for exceptional leadership. Sarah resides in New York with her husband Liam, children Sam and Joe, and daughter Gabriella.
