Richard Baraniuk is an American electrical and computer engineer and an Electrical and Computer Engineering professor at Rice University. He is known for his contributions to compressed sensing, an area of signal processing that enables accurate signal recovery from a limited number of measurements.
He is the founder of Connexions, an open education initiative that provides free educational materials to anyone worldwide. In 2006, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship for his work on open education and compressed sensing. He has also received numerous other awards and honors for his contributions to engineering and education.
