Mohammed Abdel-Kader Biography

Mohamed Abdel-Kader is executive director of the Stevens Initiative at the Aspen Institute. From 2014 to January 2017, he served as deputy assistant secretary for international and foreign language education at the US Department of Education. Prior to that, Abdel-Kader was director of development for the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, managing the university’s advancement strategy in the Middle East. Previously, he led development efforts for George Mason University’s Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study and set international strategy for university partnerships around the world. Abdel-Kader has advised clients on organizational strategy, fundraising, and doing business in emerging markets, and he authored a children’s book about stereotypes.
