Joe Bassani Biography

Joe is a Project Leader, managing global CrossLead implementation efforts with clients in the technology and energy sectors. He is one of the senior leaders in McChrystal Group’s West Region. Prior to joining McChrystal Group, Joe was the CIO and chief strategist for a regional bank. Joe spent 28 years in the US Army as an Aviator, retiring as a Colonel. In the years following 9/11, Joe led the Department of Defense’s planning efforts in homeland security, to include an all-hazard response plan for the Washington DC Metropolitan area and a national pandemic preparation and response plan. Additionally, he commanded a Combat Aviation Brigade and served as the Chief of Plans for the United States Northern Command. Joe has been published in numerous journals and has lectured on national security strategy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and National Defense University. He holds master’s degrees from the National Defense University and the University of Oklahoma. Joe also participated in an executive development program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
