Claire Foy is an English television actress who is best known for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series The Crown. For her performance, she has garnered critical acclaim and won a Golden Globe, received a Screen Actors Guild award, and been nominated for a BAFTA award, as well as an Emmy.
Foy studied drama and screen studies at Liverpool John Moores University and trained at the Oxford School of Drama, where she appeared in four plays. In 2008, she made her screen debut in the pilot episode of Being Human and in an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors. Following her professional stage debut at the Royal National Theatre, she played the title role in the BBC One production of Little Dorrit, and made her film debut as Anna in Season of the Witch, which came out in 2011.
