Cammi Granato

Cammi Granato is considered to be one of the best-known American female ice hockey players. Granato always had a love for ice hockey but it was a problem to find a league for her to join. She grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois but there were no leagues for girls. Cammi decided to join a boys team where she played until her junior year in high school. She attended Providence College on a hockey scholarship and later went on to try out for Team USA for the Olympics.

Cammi began playing for the US women's hockey team in 1990 and led Team USA to the first Olympic gold medal in women's hockey at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. She was also the captain of the US Team and is the all-time leading scorer in the history of women's hockey.
