Before that she was a reporter at Sports Illustrated for 9 years. She is a graduate of Smith College and has Masters degrees in Philosophy from M.I.T. and journalism from Columbia University. In 2004-2005 she was a Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University and has taught at Columbia and Princeton universities. She lives in Washington, D.C.
