Alison Overholt Biography

Alison Overholt has 15 years of experience as a multimedia journalist and executive for major media organizations. Formerly Deputy Editor at ESPN Publishing, she managed the redesigns of two 500,000 circulation special-interest publications for the company and, as the founding editor of espnW, defined the product vision and editorial strategy for the company’s multi-platform expansion into sports media for women.

A specialist in launches, redesigns and “fixer" situations, Alison has built and managed editorial teams at ESPN, created digital content strategies for Gerson Lehrman Group, NASDAQ OMX, Robin Hood and Trinity Wall Street, and directed a major editorial crowdsourcing and digital development project for Against All Odds Productions. Alison began her career as a writer and editor at Fast Company magazine, and her writing has also appeared in Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, O: The Oprah Magazine, MORE, Working Mother, Cosmopolitan, Inc., Sports Illustrated: Women and Fitness. Alison is an adjunct professor at NYU’s Robert Preston Tisch Center, where she teaches Applied Research Methods to students in the sports management, hospitality and tourism departments.

Alison is a graduate of Harvard University and lives in Montclair, NJ, with her husband, Seth, and their daughter, Maddie.
